Are you ready for the big opportunity?
I know you have been disappointed. I know you have been let down. I know you gave your 100% effort and absolute dedication just to see an unexpected event ruin it all for you and set you back to square one.
It sucks. It hurts and it discourages you. It is one thing to slack, procrastinate, and perform averagely. And it is a different story to pay attention to every single detail, give nothing but your best, and then come up short.
I have been there multiple times in life. And I promise I understand that after a while it feels as if you spend more time trying to pick yourself back up than actually enjoying the results of your hard work.
Unfortunately, this is where I find myself again, in square one. Back to confusion and the reassessment of previous courses of action. Did I make the right decision? Should I have listened to x-person’s advice? Am I just not capable of making a decision that will for once lead me to the life I dream of and work hard for every day? Can I get a break? I work hard and I strive to better myself every time just to see it all crumble.
Then, I hear a great number of unwanted opinions telling me, “I told you so.” or “You should have…” Truth is that no one really knows whether their opinion or advice is valid or applicable until you fail. In the case that you succeed, individuals are silent or they congratulate you, some people with good and others with bad intentions behind it. Either way, succeeding or failing cannot be predicted or planned. Even if you fail similarly to someone else’s experience of failure, your reason for failing will be slightly different. No one case is identical to another. We are all different and that is the cool aspect of pursuing your goals and dreams.
At the end of the day, you will be judged and negatively talked about either you end up homeless and unemployed or wealthy and successful. Please remember that.
Before I drift off, the reason for this article is not to uplift you in regards to people’s criticism, but to question you. Yes, you have been disappointed, discouraged, let down, betrayed, made fun of, rejected, neglected and underestimated, but what is your response?
For the past 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years you have been disregarded, fired, not promoted, not considered, manipulated and used. But what if tomorrow you landed the opportunity you have been dreaming of, are you ready? What if later today, you get a call from a job you applied for last year, are you prepared? What if you are one week away from meeting the person that can sponsor you, connect you to the right people or hire you as a manager or a CEO, are you ready to take on to that opportunity?
Or did you utilize the time after your disappointment to cry, be miserable, feel sorry for yourself, and just stop everything that made you so special and so worthy of these opportunities?
I am sorry that you have to go through two years of hell to enjoy five months of happiness and success. I know it’s tough and I know it can get unfair, but stay ready. Yes, luck exists. But do you know what it means to be lucky? Lucky means to be prepared when opportunity knocks on your door!
So, how about we create our own luck? Wipe your tears, lift your head up, and let’s get back to preparation. Let’s get back to working for the life and the position we desire.
